The modern iteration of the original ‘Augustine’ strings played by Andrés Segovia. Featuring low tension basses and a dulcet tone that evokes the sound of the old masters. Classic/Black can now be enjoyed with consistently perfect intonation.

Trebles: normal tension nylon
Basses: low tension, silver-plated copper over nylon multifilament

The Augustine Black Basses are Augustine’s lightest copper wound strings. This set has black label basses (not in colour) and Classic Trebles – a light gauge treble string.

These are the original Augustine guitar strings, an intrinsic part of the classical guitar evolution this century. Albert Augustine, an instrument maker, found himself pressured by none other than Andres Segovia to manufacture and sell nylon guitar strings. He did so, insuring the rise of a new generation of concert players and lending his own part to the cultivation and completion of the famous Segovia Sound.
