Description

Alio means “elsewhere” in Latin, a word that summarises the essential idea behind this piece. By playing on timbres and the extraordinary potential of the instruments of the orchestra I have in fact tried to evoke this “elsewhere”, this other world inhabited, perhaps, by those who have already left us. This desire to learn in some way what is beyond our understanding has become an obsession that underlies my music like some unceasing wave. And this piece does indeed evolve like an undertow, moving from the static to the extremely active, before dying out in quiet calm, following a series of ruptures.
