D’Addario XT is for the player who wants the feel of non-coated strings but with the massively extended tone life of coated strings. XT is the combination of D’Addario’s most advanced innovations: high-carbon NY Steel hex core, fusion twist anchors, hydrophobic nano-treated wrap wire, and machine winding.

D’Addario XT wrap wire is treated before it’s wound onto the core to ensure the tactile feel of – what we regard as – ‘regular’ strings remains. And crucially, the XT treatment produces minimal tonal dampening so you get the bright, powerful sound expected from D’Addario strings.

All D’Addario X-Series strings have the same break resistance and tuning stability as NYXL thanks to the NY Steel core. NY Steel is produced solely by D’Addario and is up to 40% stronger and 131% more stable than the next best competitor.

To complete the set, XT treble strings are made of NY Steel which is tin-plated and dispersion coated to match the wound strings.

The XT sound is bright, punchy, and lively. The XT feel is distinctly not coated!
