12AY7 Gold Pin, Electro Harmonix

The 12AY7 has lower gain than a 12AX7, making it useful when you want more headroom or less distortion in preamp stages.

Because of the gold pin plating, the tube may offer lower contact resistance and potentially reduced noise under good conditions.

Interchangeability: In many amp circuits that allow flexibility, a 12AY7 may be used in place of higher-gain tubes (with some change in character).
