Description
Water Music for Recorder and Piano by Gordon Crosse is a collection of three pieces composed in reverse order. The Hornpipe was written first, based on a well-known keyboard dance by Henry Purcell, followed by the Prelude and Barcarolle, which incorporate accompanimental ideas from the Hornpipe.
Originally composed for John Turner, the pieces were later arranged for recorder and string accompaniment, available for hire. The work is published by Oxford University Press and is suitable for treble, tenor, or descant recorder, with an optional sopranino part.
