The MEINL Chau Tam Tams are handcrafted in China using the same methods and traditions which have been used to create gongs in this region for centuries. Made from a special bronze alloy, these tam tams have a large spread of tones and characteristics. From a sustained low hum to a brooding roar to fast explosive crashes, they work in many situations and blend well with other gongs and instruments. Available sizes start at 20″/50 cm and increase to 48″/120 cm in diameter. Each tam tam ships with a beater, designed to correspond with the tam tam size, and a cover.
