Produced by James Ford, with additional production work by Marta Salogni, the album was recorded at Electric Ladyboy Studio in Santa Barbara and Shangri-La Studio in Malibu.

In the UK, Momento Mori debuted at No.2 with 17,867 sales and 15,209 coming from physical format. In the US, the album debuted and peaked at No.14, selling 32,000 equivalent album units in its opening week.
