Description
Hosco high-quality pre-cut fretwire, pack of 24 frets suitable for one instrument. Each fret of the following precut stainless steel fretwire is cut based on a standard fretboard (43mm at nut / 53mm at 12th fret) and has an extra length by 0.5mm. Stainless steel frets are slow to wear or develop grooves so you get smooth string bends for years longer compared to regular nickel frets. Some players experience a slightly brighter tone with stainless steel frets.
Hosco Stainless Steel Fret sets have a pre-tapered length to fit to a standard fingerboard width (43mm at the nut/53mm at the 12th). For fingerboards with binding, there is an overhang of 2.5mm for both fret ends that helps to cover the extra width, minimizing final trimming of the edges.
Because stainless steel is a lot harder than standard nickel, specialist tools are required to work with this type of material and also the installation process can take a lot longer. It is recommended to take the instrument to a qualified local guitar luthier who can carry the re-fret work out for you.
Undercut for bindings : 2.5mm from each end
